With trial broadcasting on October 28, 2009 and official broadcasting on June 24, 2010, Kangba TV is the third Tibetan language satellite television channel in China after Tibetan TV and Qinghai TV. Through ChinaSat 9, ChinaSat 6B and cable televisions, the signal covers the Tibetan-inhabited areas in Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu, Yunnan provinces and Tibet Autonomous Region in China as well as India and Nepal. On April 11, 2014, the programs are officially broadcast in Nepal.

Kangba TV broadcasts 24 hours a day 7 days a week, adhering to the principles of "News is the foundation; Spreading information; Promoting Culture; Closing to people; Serving the Tibetan-inhabited areas". The broadcasting programs of news, literature and art, TV series and services include CCTV News, Kangba TV News, Chemi Time, The Legal Mirror, Champa Talk Show, Kangba Lecture, The Kangba Gala, The Weekend Grand Show, The Snowy Plateau, The Kangba Theater, Wengmo's Weather Forecast, etc.

Since its initial broadcasting, Kangba TV has improved the programs' quality, enriched the contents and strengthened the timeliness in a variety of ways. At the same time, together with Tibetan-inhabited prefectures, Kangba TV has hosted the Tibetan New Year Gala for five consecutive years and Chinese-Tibetan Bilingual Language Competition for three consecutive years, which comprehensively reveals the Tibetan cultural features. The documentaries "Heaven-blessed Culture of Kangba" and "My Mi-Nyag" filmed by Kangba TV have become quality programs. Besides, 2014 Tibetan Wood-horse New Year Gala: The Blessed New Year is broadcast on CCTV International Chinese Channel and English Channel.
